Objectives
- To develop quantitative measures of consumption of counterfeit goods including demographics, frequency, and location
- Perform statistical analysis of data from surveys including ANOVA and Multivariate analyses
- Develop a framework for measuring consumer attitudes and motivations related to the consumption of counterfeit goods
- Produce a dataset which allows comparative analysis of consumption of counterfeits across partner countries and sectors
Description of Work
- Postal Survey – exploring the consumption of counterfeit goods, types of goods purchased, sites of purchase, use of electronic delivery methods and consumer motivations. To promote return rate, a prize draw will be offered
- Coding, entry and analysis of postal survey data – descriptive statistical analysis will be supplemented by the use of more sophisticated multivariate examination. A key aspect of these analyses will be to compare patterns of consumption and consumer motivations across partner states and product categories, as well as developing profiles of different types of consumers
- Web-based Survey – collect data focused primarily on consumers in the higher consumption of counterfeiting demographic and those who are earlier adopter/heavy users of digital technologies. The questionnaire will be made available in the same languages as the paper-based questionnaire
- Analysis of the web-based survey data – the analysis of the web-based data comparable to that of the paper-based version
Outcomes
- Copies of the questionnaires will soon be available for download along with a list of theoretical constructs investigated for the purpose of modelling consumer behaviour in the realms of counterfeit goods and downloading
- Findings of the questionnaires will also be made available
